Doggie Dreams
Many of you will have watched the YouTube video’s of the sleepwalking dog. If not, watch it below!
It goes to show that dogs are more like us than we thought! There have been many other funny and peculiar incidents noted in sleep walking dogs. One woman found her dog taking a nap, wrapped in her bra and knickers after going into her laundry bag when sleep walking. It just goes to show that dogs dream just as vividly as we do.
Research says this will only happen during a certain period of the night, as with people when they are in deep sleep. Both humans and dogs go through REM – Rapid Eye Movement sleep, the time when you start dreaming and dogs and people’s brains are most active. It has also been found that smaller dogs dream more than larger ones and puppies and old dogs dream more than middle aged pups.
Dogs who lie tight in a ball might look sleepy but after studies, scientists say that to be in deep sleep a puppy has to be totally relaxed… so maybe your curled up dog is playing dead, but he’s definitely not dreaming!
Another insightful fact for anyone with more than one furry friend is that dogs who sleep with their backs touch are bonding. If they sleep with their backs on you, you know you’ve earned some brownie points!
Does your dog dream?
While we know they’re dreaming though we would still love to know what, exactly, they are dreaming about.
