Can Anyone Help?
A couple of months ago, Dog Diaries member Christyn posted a heartfelt plea about Chloe, the overweight black Labrador. Like any dog lover, Christyn was concerned by Chloe’s plight and took it on herself to reduce the dog’s weight from a whopping 61kg to a far healthier and more manageable 40kg.

Labradors are fantastic dogs, but they are also the gluttons of the canine world and are particularly prone to obesity, which can exacerbate other conditions such as hip dysplasia. Chloe was a case in point – until Christyn stepped in.
Now, though, with Chloe at her target weight, Christyn needs your help. With the owner’s blessing, Christyn is looking for a new home for Chloe, a place where she will receive the love, attention and exercise she deserves. While Christyn would love to be able to take Chloe herself, with two children and two of her own dogs to look after, not to mention work commitments, she is simply not able to.
Christyn’s greatest fear is that without being in the right environment, Chloe will eat herself into an early grave. With regular exercise – principally walking and swimming – Chloe has lost the best part of 20 kilos, or a third of her original body weight, under Christyn’s supervision. However, that needs to be maintained, so prospective owners must be willing to cater to Chloe’s dietary and exercise needs.
‘There is no doubt in my mind that Chloe would be a loyal loving companion for the right person,’ Christyn says. If you think you may be the right person and would like to meet Chloe, email Christyn at gpassa@bigpond.com.
