Hi all . New to Dog diaries

My question is this .. I now have rescued yet another dog (14 week old Border Collie) from abuse and I am wondering, will there be problems if I spray my weeds and tether the dogs until the spray is dry.

If they eat the grasses etc will they become ill ? I have physical issues with getting to ground level to remove them all by hand and spraying will be the better option for me.

any advice greatly appreciated

Shaun

It pays to get a second opinion, It saved my dogs life! ( I cant spell today!)

Hello dog lovers, I have been very busy over Christmas, just like everyone else. We had a really bad week where our dog Laylah (Beagle) fell ill. The vets diagnosed her with a fractured neck and refered us to a specialist in Melbourne. I almost didn't go down to the specialist as I knew I couldn't afford $6,000 and there was no garantee that it would work.

To cut a long, emotional story short, three vet visits, a trip to Melbourne and $1,000 later the specialist in Melbourne informed us that the image on the xray was a congenital abnormality ( she was born with it!) (I have this as well! LOL) Anyway the specialist poked and proded and hit a sore spot on her spine as she almost yelped the roof off! I am sure he must of put her back back in cause shes back to normal now. Even on the anti – imflamatory's she wasn't as good as this. She's still on the anti's for a few months though.

Back at home Laylah was first diagnosed with mild pancreatitis, the second time they couldn't find any thing wrong and the 3rd time they xrayed her neck. This was a dog that would run km per day if she could to a dog that couldn't jump up at all. Then as she got worse the couldn't jump down. To lift her hurt her… She was so depressed!

I didn't know how bad pancreatitis could be for dogs. Apparently to much marrow can lead to this or too much fat. We have put Laylah on a diet of steamed chicken, mashed pumpkin and rice….

Laylah was so lucky that I wanted a second opinion! Thank you to Dr Chris Preston and his intern in Mt Waverly Vic who knows their stuff!

Yes over 300 applicants to adopt Buckley - the dog that had his ears cut off! And as I have just been reading Buckley wasn't alone!

The inhuman people who commit these acts should be locked up. We need a NO TOLLERANCE POLICY - Straight to jail!!

Its fantastic that over 300 people applied to adopt Buckley, but I wonder how many of these applicants that missed out on adopting Buckley actually went and adopted a dog from a dog shelter?

Chloe the friendly black Labrador may not have had her ears cut off, but she has also suffered pain. Could you imagine what it would of been like for her last summer weighing 61kg!!

Now she's finally happy and content and all I want for her is a home with a family that can provide a holistic environment for her. She loves the water, she loves 1:1 attention, she aims to please. When she finds that someone this dog will blossom! We haven't seen the best in her yet!

Howdy Dog Lovers,

I have been off line a while, I tore my toe nail off and also tore a tendon. I have been working in the office at work in stead of nursing on the floor. its been really hard for me as I havent been able to walk properly for over a month.

Chloe has continued to loose weight even though her exercise schedule has decreased. The owner pays my 13 year old $5.00 to walk Chloe every Tuesday. I work Tuesdays so often my mother in law, Val goes with her. Its been so hot in Victoria Val has taken them for a swim in the dam and only a short walk. I had to take a step back and realise I cant do everything. I have to work, I have two duaghters to take care of, two dogs of my own, house, etc, etc - I am only human!

People tell me to slow down and let the owner take control, but I am sure she's busy to, she works hard - and they run a business. Lately its been way to hot to walk the dogs. I havent even taken my dogs via the car cause I am scared they are going to get bitten by a snake!

Well just so you all know Chloe is fine and we are still looking for a home for her. Oh I forgot. When my daughter took her for a swim the other day she actually swam across the dam!! Normally she will only go in to her belly. How fantastic is that!!!!

Take care dog lovers, Christyn

Hi Guys,

i was running through the house at 3am one morning trying to get to my 7 year old who was sick in the other room and I hit my toe on the tiles dilocating it. Ouch!

I havent been able to walk Chloe. My daughter is walking her on a Tuesday, but other than that I dont think her owners are walking her much. I'll have to get her weighed soon to check on her weight. I cant believe a toe would have so much impact on my life. What a bugger! Anyways still looking for a home for her, I 'll just keep on looking...

We have a 5 year old foxie cross who has glucoma and we have just had her lenses removed and prostheisies put in so she looks normal. She is totally blind but she is very happy and copes well she needs some help but she is very independant. She loves to be with us and she loves to touch us when she is asleep. She is a miniature and is short and round but not fat. She still chases the flies and bugs even the occassional lizard in the garden. The cost of the op was in excess of $4000.00 but we love our little Tuppy and she is a part of the family (our baby) as we are now only the two of us as the kids have all grown up. But tuppy makes our day every day with her quirky ways and at the end of the day we always get a kiss from her no matter what She gives us unconditional love every day even after what she has gone through.

We love our little girl.
