Pet holiday

While we would all love to spend our holidays with our canine friends, frequent plane flights and a lack of pet-friendly accommodation can make this impossible. So this year as you plan ahead for next Christmas, or even a winter break, why not investigate the possibility of finding a boarding kennel for your dog?

Before you consider booking your dog into a boarding facility, make sure all booster vaccinations and worming is up to date. This Karingal Veterinary Hospital page gives a clear explanation of the type of vaccination required, including one that covers kennel cough. This site also offers helpful information on a recommended vaccination schedule for your dog.

Finding a boarding kennel that you feel comfortable boarding your dog at is important. A good boarding kennel will offer comfortable bedding, access to fresh water and food and a place to run outside or regular daily exercise. Of course friendly staff are also a must! For your dog’s safety it is also best to ensure they board only at kennels where vaccinations are essential.

Start Local has an extensive listing of boarding kennels across Australia. Tips on what to take to the kennel with your dog and state by state listings can also be found here.
